Winter Skin
The clocks are going back which is a signal that winter is on its way. Although we’re fans certain things about winter; the big comfy jumpers that cover a multitude of sins, the whole Christmas thing, the hope of a tiny bit of snow so we can at least chuck one snowball - we’re not fans of the effect that winter has on our skin.
Winter skin is typically dry, flaky and dull. Not exactly our favourite combination of words. So what to do, we can’t battle nature can we? Well actually, we can put up a pretty good fight, particularly because certain things we’re doing are probably making the problem worse! Follow these simple guidelines and give your skin a head start this winter.
1. Sun Protection
Not the most obvious piece of advice but an essential one. Just because its winter doesn’t mean that the sun’s damaging rays can’t get to you. In fact, a big mistake that many people make over the winter months is to ditch the SPF. Use an SPF during winter and your skin will thank you by keeping those telltale wrinkles at bay.
2. Central Heating
Central heating can exacerbate dry skin during winter months. Although the cold climate is responsible for a reduction in humidity, high central heating temperatures are also a contributor to low humidity causing dried out skin. The contrast between high central heating temperatures and the outdoor cold climate makes your skin confused and causes it to dry out even more. Try to turn the heating down and, and if you can’t face doing that, get some humidity back into the air by placing a bowl of water next to your bed when you go to sleep. You’ll notice that a significant amount of water will have evaporated by morning and your skin will thank you too!
3. Makeup
Get it off! Winter is office party season and you’ll probably be caking it on to look your top notch best. Please, for goodness sake, take it off properly before you go to bed. Not only is the panda eyes look a little last season, but your skin won’t like you clogging up its pores. You’re likely to get spots if you do it too – so not a good look.
4. Water
Drink it, simply - 2 litres a day if you can manage it. It hydrates you inside and out and will prevent your skin from looking horrible and dry.
5. Moisturise
Winter means dry skin, you can’t totally get around it, and so it goes without saying that you need to moisturise like mad to get the moisture back into your skin. You might think that the worst months for your skin are the coldest i.e. January and February, but the worst months are actually when Autumn turns to Winter i.e. October and November. Get ahead of the game by getting your skin moisturised morning and night and your skin will have a better chance of beating winter skin.

How to really be sexy in lingerie
I remember my first, and last, lingerie party with one of the largest acceptable sex shop outlets. A friend of a friend (isn't it always the way), was working for them, and a large gaggle of girls congregated at someone's house to giggle over vibrators and try on sexy corsets.
It was the games which annoyed me. I remember one which involved holding a piece of paper on your head, and trying to draw a penis onto a man. I may be prejudiced as I've always hated party games, but this seemed so juvenile, and the antithesis to being grown-up and buying sexy lingerie.
Only such events are never about maturity. My excuse for even having been to one of these parties was I was sixteen at the time. I can't imagine going to one if you're not a teenager, but I know lots of women do. Maybe they're supposed to be liberating, but sniggering over strap-ons is not liberating.
I could possibly have forgiven all of this had the underwear I ordered (yes I know – but after a few drinks everyone felt obliged) was of a decent quality. However, it wasn't, and it fell apart very quickly, and was made out of horrible materials.
Decent materials is in fact one of the most important keys to decent lingerie. It is one of the reasons why I never buy lingerie online (the other reason being I'm a size 16, and it is impossible to know what will actually look good on a website). Even if an item is described as one hundred percent silk, doesn't account for what the lace is made out of, what quality of elastic is used.
One of the keys to feeling, and looking sexy, is feeling comfortable. Unless you are a very good actress, you will never look good unless you feel good. Wearing sexy lingerie is a very tactile experience, both for the wearer and whoever you may want to share said lingerie with. Polyester is not sexy, however nice it may look, because it feels like cardboard.
I would never go to one of these parties again. Not only do I feel too old, I don't see the point. Even if one of my best female friends decided to become a representative, I would not go. I am too old to be embarrassed into playing games, and I don't find sexual aids funny. Fun, yes, but something practical, not something to giggle over.
Sexy is very different to smut. All these kind of parties do is reduce something beautiful into something seedy. Women's liberation has meant we are now allowed to talk about, and enjoy sex. However, it doesn't mean we need to be reduced to the mentality of fourteen year old boys. It should mean we are able to derive pleasure from the beautiful, tactile, sexy experience wearing good quality lingerie can evoke. Good lingerie is about feeling good about ourselves as women, and we should not denigrate this experience.

How to host your own lingerie party
There are many reasons for having a lingerie party. Firstly, it is a convenient excuse to spend
a self-indulgent amount of time deciding on what style, type, and colour of lingerie to add to
your collection – but without having to trawl the shops on a busy drizzling Saturday evening
(and ending up with something you only half wanted). Additionally, a lingerie party can be a
good excuse to have a laugh, an opportunity to catch up with the girls, and it can be a
comfortable and light-hearted way to making that all-important lingerie-related decision. So
how do you host your own lingerie party?
After you’ve decided which shop or company to host your party through, and you’ve
established yourself a lingerie consultant, it’s time to start the fun stuff and get planning. A
good place to start is to decide on who you are going to invite. The first thing to remember is
to be sure that yourself, and those you invite, are comfortable. So do you want to invite your
close friends? Do you want to include the girls from work? How about the boyfriends?
Although lingerie parties have traditionally been women only, more recently men have been
known to be included too, but just remember to be considerate of how comfortable you and
your guests feel.
The next step is to plan the food, after all, this lingerie choosing is hungry work. But
remember, this is not a dinner party, so you don’t need to plan courses and courses of
decadent nosh. I suggest finger food, a buffet, or tapas, something that is quite informal and
can stimulate mingling and chatting – and that can be enjoyed alongside a few glasses of
wine, or if you’re feeling extra convivial – cocktails!
After the standard party ingredients such as food, drinks, and a bit of dancing, lingerie parties usually involve games, and this is the next thing to plan. It’s good to plan a few and of course these can be diverse in terms of taste, can be centred around the guest of honour (if it’s a hen night for example), and can even take place over the course of the night from when the guests arrive.
A good starter is the classic game: Pass the Teddy – the guests are told that wrapped in a
parcel is some sexy lingerie that must be modelled by the one who tears open the final
wrapper. The game begins, every time the music stops another wrapper is torn, of course,
when the winner sees a bit of the “prize†uncovered they must then leave the room, only to
return modelling the sexy number. But, lo and behold…the prize is in fact a teddy-bear!
With careful planning, some good friends, food, and wine, a lingerie party can be a memorable
night, if just for an excuse to have some fun, or even to celebrate a special occasion.

Is Microdermabrasion Effective?
by: JackieWinstanley
Since it first appeared in Europe the skin care treatment known as microdermabrasion has grown in popularity year after year. Today it is one of the, if not the, most popular treatments on both sides of the Atlantic ocean. Utilizing a microdermabrasion machine fine crystals of aluminum oxide are blown, under pressure, onto the surface of the skin. The crystals remove the dead and dying skin cells on the surface which are then sucked back up into the machine.
Microdermabrasion is described as a non-invasive cosmetic procedure and, as such, the treatment carries little or no risked when it is performed by a professional who has been suitably trained and fully understands the nature of skin. Although the process is simple and can now be performed, using professional techniques, in the home with equipment costing as little as $200 the professional machines are far more powerful and, obviously, produce far better results (depending upon the skill of the technician).
Sometimes, immediately following a session, face can sometimes seem slightly reddened though this quickly subsides to leave a fantastically healthy glow. You will also notice that open pores will be noticeably reduced and, rather than looking dull and lifeless, your skin will look radiant with a pleasant sheen. Overall the look will be far more youthful than prior to the treatment and this will improve more with further treatments.
For many the most important benefit from microdermabrasion is the removal of comedones. These are the plugs in pores which are visible in blackheads and unseen in whiteheads. As these are part of the cause of acne by using microdermabrasion to condition the skin (which is free from active acne) so the new acne does not form, it is possible to bring outbreaks quickly under control and minimize the risk of new outbreaks.
The fact that treating, with microdermabrasion, those areas of skin which do not have active acne it will become less prone to a fresh outbreak. Having the treatment on a regular basis decreases the formation of comedones to such a degree that it can completely stop an acne breakout.
There are plenty of acne treatments available but the regime has to be specific to the person as not all work for all people and it is very much a case of trial and error. Fortunately microdermabrasion appears to work to great effect on virtually anybody who suffers from acne and, because of this, it is extremely popular as both a cure and a preventative treatment.
Many people find that after acne they are, sometimes, left with scarring. Luckily microdermabrasion can be very effective at removing (or vastly reducing the visibility of) acne scars. As well as removing acne scars it can also remove other skin blemishes and also have a profound effect upon freckles. However most people know of the treatment because of it's excellent reputation for being able to remove spider and fine lines together with fine wrinkles. It can also greatly reduce the visibility of deeper wrinkles.
The truth is that microdermabrasion has a great many benefits, so many in fact, that virtually anybody would benefit after only a few appointments at their local medical spa or clinic. Because it is so popular the cost of the treatment has restocked slightly in recent years, especially in areas of increased competition and now more than ever it is within the range of almost all budgets. If you have considered it too expensive in the past maybe it is time to take another look?

How To Find The Most Effective Acne Treatments
by: NathanJames
It's dreaded by teenagers everywhere - regardless of their skin color, the language they speak or what social circles they run in. If anything is going to bring the youth of today together in a common cause, it's the fight against acne.
Teenagers everywhere are constantly on the lookout for effective acne treatments, but just as acne can come in many forms and degrees of severity, there are many different treatments available. The one that will work best for one person won't necessarily be the best for someone else.
Before you can decide on the best treatment option, it helps to understand what it is that actually causes acne. It's commonly believed to be caused by poor hygiene, but that isn't the case. It is actually caused by changes in the body that can't (and shouldn't) be stopped.
Teenage acne is often due to hormonal changes in the body that causes excess secretion of oil, which can block pores and trap dirt and moisture. The result is the blackheads and pimples that are so common among teens.
Effective treatments are available for the various forms of acne, and a dermatologist will be able to thoroughly diagnose a particular case and recommend the proper treatment.
If you've ever looked at the many acne treatments that are available at any drug store or pharmacy, you'll probably have seen shelves full of creams, gels and lotions that promise to be the cure to end all acne problems.
These treatments work for some people and not for others, but they are often attempting to treat any and all forms of acne, which just isn't possible. The most effective treatments will be tailored for a given person's acne.
Some of these treatments will include azelaic acid creams, benzoyl peroxide or Accutane. They may be in the form of topical creams or lotions. Each of these treatments is best suited to deal with certain types of acne, with varying strengths depending on the severity of the acne.
Many teens spend a lot of time and money trying every possible treatment to get rid of their acne. The trouble is, the treatments are often not dealing with the cause in their particular situation. A visit to a dermatologist is the best way to get a proper diagnosis and treatment plan, customized for a particular case.

Skin Is Deeper Than You Think
by: RicardodArgence
Skin is classified as an organ and it's the largest organ of your body. Yes, I said organ. Since it is what protects the inside of our bodies, caring for it is very important. Your skin must be cared for, from the deepest layers out to the surface. Your skin gets the nutrients that it needs when you take vitamin K. Your body is protected by many layers.
The skin can have all kinds of problems. For problems there are cures. Finding the remedy that you are looking for could prove difficult, because there are so many to choose from. Your skin will benefit from several different natural remedies. Some ancient Greek athletes bathed with olive oil and used sand to protect their skin from the sun.
Many different fruits and vegetables can be used to protect skin against the sun and aging. You can care for your skin in many ways common to the past, including taking a bath in sour milk.
You should try to avoid sun overexposure. Ultraviolet rays from the sun will cause damage to your skin. They seem to just exhaust the skin of its vitality. It has been said that water is the key to staying young. Additionally, you can drink plenty of water to ensure healthy skin.
It is wise to properly clean your skin and make sure that you use the proper products. There are many chemical laden products that are on your skin all the time. This is not really healthy for your skin and there are alternatives to these chemicals. You can use all natural cleansers and lotions. Avoid exposing your skin to a lot of hot water as well. This washes away the natural oils in your skin that is vital for healthy skin. Your body's natural oil is essential for healthy skin.
Using moisturizers to continually replenish the skin is the best thing for it, as it is constantly exfoliating. Something else that is good for your skin is getting therapeutic treatments, like a facial, and going to spas. When you receive a massage that also massages your skin.
Natural skin care products are inexpensive and skin problems can be avoided if you follow these tips regularly. You need to start realizing that your skin is important. It has many uses beyond that of simple protection. Give your skin a little pampering. You owe it to yourself after all the days' hard work.
People associate healthy skin with beauty because the condition of our skin is an indication of what is going on inside our bodies. And while healthy skin can be beautiful, it is also essential to our survival. Eating healthy foods, exercising regularly, and always using the proper skin care products will help your skin maintain a youthful glow.

The importance of anti aging eye cream
by: GeoffHopkins
As on old saying goes; "The eyes are the window to the soul." If you were to ask, wouldn't you want to have good looking eyes?
Unfortunately, as we age, so does our skin. Over time, the make up of our skin becomes thinner, weaker, splotchier, drier, and more fragile, while unhealthy lifestyle choices, sun exposure, and environmental pollutants take a ravaging toll by accelerating that process upon our skin.
In order for us to fight the signs of aging, we should have the basic understanding about the aging process of the skin. As we age, the development of skin cells becomes slow. There is also a decrease in the production of elastin and collagen into the skin making the skin less elastic and dry.
The area around the eyes is the thinnest area of the face. The first signs of aging appear mostly on these areas. People must focus more on this area when they are using anti wrinkle eye creams. Wrinkles that are found on the outer corners of the eyes are called crows feet or laugh lines. This is the reason why there is a high demand for anti wrinkle eye creams.
Before choosing an anti winkle eye cream, you should also know how various anti wrinkle cream ingredients work in order to determine the benefit of using a certain product. For your safety, the best thing that you should do is to choose those popular products with good reputation to the public.
We should understand that different anti wrinkle eye creams have different approaches to fight and to eliminate the signs of aging. There are products that can produce immediate results in reducing visible wrinkles and fine lines by the use of light. Other products use effective ingredients such as hyaluronic acid that can help hydrate the skin and can help eliminate visible wrinkles.
There are also products that can help relax facial muscles and eventually decrease the appearance of wrinkles. In choosing an anti aging eye cream, you should choose products that can make your skin smooth, moisturized, less greasy yet not too heavy and not too thick. You can also consider products with UV protection to prevent skin damaged caused by too much exposure to the sun.
For the reason that there are various anti wrinkle products sold on the market today, before choosing an anti aging product, you must first know how these products work on your skin. Creams and serums that stay longer on the skin can provide longer and lasting moisture that the skin needs. These creams are mostly used as night creams. You should also choose those products that are processed finely and are cohesively consistent that when applied to the skin, it does not leave a thickening feeling.
If you have chosen the right anti wrinkle cream for your skin, you must use this product on a consistent basis to achieve great results. Daily use of skin care product can provide continuous protection and skin replenishment. Long term use is also important to see other benefits of the product such as SPF protection. Choose those products that offer money back guarantee and product trial. This can help you evaluate the effectiveness of a certain anti wrinkle eye cream. With these things in mind, you can choose an anti aging eye cream to eliminate and to reverse the aging process of the skin.

Wrinkles - Cause and Remedy
by: Dr.WaldoSilverstein
Dry skin which is prone to flaking is not attractive and lack of moisture in the skin is also a major cause of wrinkles. To keep your skin cells plumped up, you should make sure your body is sufficiently hydrated every day. You need to moisturize inside and out, in order to avoid wrinkles. Drink plenty water.
So, it is very important to drink a significant amount of water every day. Generally, the warmer it is, or the more active you are, the more water your body needs to replenish. There is no harm in drinking 8 - 10 glasses of water every day. Once you begin this regiment, you will see many other benefits in other facets of your life and health.
Smoking is another factor in increasing the likelihood of a person having premature wrinkles and deep-set wrinkles. Smoking decreases blood flow to the skin, and reduces the oxygen in the blood. Without sufficient oxygen and essential nutrients the skin wrinkles. The skin's elasticity is diminished and the skin sags and wrinkles. The skin no longer has enough life to spring back and deep furrows become noticable.
The skin's elastin and collagen fibers, which provides the foundation for the surface layers, weakens and unravels. Smoking reduces the level of estrogen in women and this also causes dryness and destruction of skin tissues. Smoking also attacks the skin's ability to fight off free-radicals that are in tobacco smoke.
The number one cause of wrinkles and blemishes is the sun. It is imperative that you wear sunscreen with spf of at least 45. It is important that you wear some spf protection daily even if you are indoors because your skin is not immune from photo damage emitted by the very bright lights that are used in offices and department stores.
One popular remedy for eliminating wrinkles is botox and collagen injections. Collagen is a plumping agent removes wrinkles and restores a youthful appearance. Botox treatment for wrinkles involves a form of botulism (yes, a toxic) injected to a particular area. Those areas are often the forehead, around the eyes, and the cheeks, to paralyze the muscles that cause wrinkles.
As early as 30, you already need products that will help delay your skin's aging process. However, since there are many anti-aging creams in the market, you need to carefully choose the products that you put on your face. It would really help if you choose an anti-aging cream that is all-natural and hypoallergenic.
The natural approach is frequently preferred by many, without scars and less pain. Awesome results have been achieved with many over the counter anti-wrinkle treatments so it is entirely up to you. You have aggressive options like botox or collagen injections, or face peels, or great over-the-counter anti-aging skin products. There are many great products available and also several wrinkle treatment free trial offers available online.

The Cause of Stretch Mark Signs in Women
by: MaiaPells
Both men and women may equally be affected by the cause of stretch mark signs. Women however may have more drastic stretch mark conditions that may have a negative impact on life in general.
What May Cause Stretch Mark Signs
For both men and women, the main cause of stretch mark signs is the same. A rapid expansion of the body can cause inner skin tissues to overstretch and eventually tear. The torn tissues later become scar tissues that become white or silver in color through time. Women however may be more prone to this skin condition because of one natural cause of stretch mark signs that men do not experience-pregnancy. The rapid expansion of the abdomen in pregnant women may particularly result in ugly ragged lines.
Can Stretch Marks Affect Your Life?
People are most likely to tell you that no matter how severe your stretch mark condition is, stretch marks are harmless and non-fatal. Still, stretch marks are not only skin-deep. Severe stretch mark conditions can have negative effects on a woman's social life. And no matter how much others may consider it a great triviality, physical insecurities caused by stretch marks can even go so far as ruin relationships. Online forums and chat rooms are proof enough that although men don't mind their women with stretch mark signs, they would still prefer women who are blemish and stretch-mark free.
Different Stretch Mark Conditions for Different People
Women are plagued by different causes of stretch mark conditions and suffer different degrees of condition. Even if we are to say that causes of stretch marks in women are the same, its condition would still vary depending on the individual's lifestyle, genetic disposition as well as habits and physical activities. Thus, different women and different stretch mark conditions call for different treatment and remedies.
Permanent Stretch Marks For Some Women
Some women simply have to suffer from stretch marks for the rest of their lives. The sad thing is, something still could've been done. Permanent stretch marks may often be the result of not minding early signs of stretch marks or ignoring the knowledge of a possible cause of stretch mark signs. If you know that you are on the family way or are prone to rapid weight increase, then you should prepare yourself for the possibility of developing stretch marks.
Easier to Prevent Than Heal
Stretch mark signs are generally treated as scars because of its stubborn nature. Therefore, stretch marks are often easier to prevent rather than cure. If you are experiencing rapid weight increase or other possible body changes that may cause stretch mark signs, it is advisable to seek prevention right away rather than wait until the condition becomes more pronounced or worsen.
No Surgical Stretch Mark Treatments
The medical field often view stretch mark as a cosmetic problem. This is the reason why there is hardly any medical treatment for such condition. The only surgical way to get rid of stretch mark on the abdomen area is for the individual to undergo an expensive tummy tuck which is not even technically a procedure to get rid of stretch mark signs. It is safer to go for the natural and inexpensive options to prevent stretch marks.

Liquid Goats Milk Soap for Better Hands
by: LoriGreen
If people want to return to the ways of nature, then they need to look for alternatives to harsh chemicals in the everyday products we all use. Natural living coincides with using natural products on your body.
For the hands, I haven't seen anything better than liquid goats milk soap. Known to make your skin naturally soft and supple, while providing antibacterial properties, this twist on handmade soap originally made by your grandma is right on.
Goat's milk soap has been known for years as a rejuvenator of the skin. Chuck full of fat natural fatty acids, goats milk soap is perfect for washing the hands. Lactic acid acts as an exfoliate, almost like a chemical peel but not as strong. It is much more more mild.
You will not find a more gentle soap than that made from the goat. If you are used to dry skin on your hands during the winter, you will find that liquid goats milk soap will make a big difference. Many people consider it a miracle soap.
PH is the level of acids in or on anything. Our skin surface has a certain pH, and liquid goats milk soap matches a perfectly to skin pH. That is why, our skin loves the soap made by goat! Naturally occurring alpha hydroxy acids in goats milk provides a natural exfoliate for the dead skin cells for a healthier glow to our skin. On top all this, it is loaded with natural skin nutrients like vitamins C, D, B, and A; as well as proteins, iron, and lots of fats that is fantastic for our skin.
You do not have to put up with dry chapped hands. In fact, for some people can be very painful, not to mention very irritating. Wintertime is the worst time for dry hands because the air is so dry, especially indoors where cold dry air is heated and loses even more moisture. Add on top of this, washing your hands with dehydrating store-bought soaps and you have a problem. Goats milk liquid soap protects your hands from losing moisture in the dry winter air.
Avoid using commercial soaps that tend to over dry skin on the skin in your hands. Use liquid goats milk soap. I am so attached to natural goat milk soap that I don't know what ever did without it.

Wise Woman's Natural Care: Essential Oils For Beautiful Skin
by: HelenaMasters
Pure essential oils are found in many of the world's finest beauty care preparations for mature skin, with very good reason. Known effects of essential oils include stimulation of cellular metabolism, tissue regeneration, antioxidant action, anti-inflammatory effects, and hormone-like activity.
These benefits form the therapeutic foundation for topical support of the health and beauty of aging skin. And while essential oils used in natural skin care many not sound as exclusive as some fancy laboratory-made concoctions from Europe, their results can certainly be as profound. The added plus being you can make a blend precisely suited to your skin's needs at a fraction of the cost of the high-end European imports. All the ingredients you'll require are often available at your local health food store, with the more exotic items found on the internet from providers of therapeutic-grade aromatherapy supplies.
What makes essential oils and their accompanying carrier oils so effective for natural skin care? It happens that their chemical structures are highly-compatible with that of our skin cells. Essential oils are easily absorbed through the dermal layers and even through the skin's individual cell walls. This makes them extremely simple to create and use your own formulas. Just mix each chosen essential oil into one or more carrier oils (which have their own therapeutic effects as well) at the recommended concentrations, then apply regularly for best results. The carrier oils will do just as the name implies - 'carry' the essential oils more deeply into the skin, and prevent them from being quickly evaporated into the air (as a perfume might be).
Let's have a look at the carrier oils, also aptly named 'base' oils. These are oils cold-pressed from seeds, nuts and fruit that will make up the foundation of any formula. There are several to choose from that support the health and beauty of mature skin. These natural oils will form 95-98% of your blend, with the essential oils being added as the 'active ingredients'. Avocado is first on the list, being included in many recipes for its hydrating and nutritive properties. Avocado is especially suited to dry skin, and should make up about one-fifth of the 'base' for dry-to-normal skin. Next is Apricot Kernel, also highly recommended for dry-to-normal skin, or for irritated and damaged skin. Apricot can make up the entire base if you so desire. Evening Primrose is a highly nutritive oil with a significant amount of essential fatty acids - important for building healthy tissues. Evening Primrose can make up to one quarter of the base. Hazelnut oil is very common in skin care blends, as it is well tolerated by all skin types. It can be especially useful for those with a tendency toward oily skin, as it has mildly astringent properties. Despite the seeming contradiction to applying 'oil' to an already 'oily' complexion, Hazelnut is recommended in the most advanced medical aromatherapy texts for this use - it can make up to 100% of the base. Perhaps the most important carrier oil to consider for mature skin is Rosehip seed - pressed from the seeds of a wild rose from South America, it contains research-validated vitamin A compounds that act like natural 'Retin-A', enhancing the skin's natural regeneration, lessening the appearance of fine lines, supporting healthy skin that may have endured sun-damage, and unifying skin coloration. Rosehip seed can, and should, make up to one quarter of your base recipe. For example, a four-ounce base formula specific for dry-to-normal skin may be one ounce Avocado, one ounce Rosehip seed and two ounces of Apricot Kernel - other oils should be substituted according to your skin type.
Then of course there are the 'active' ingredients - the essential oils. We will look at eight incredible oils that are all beneficial to mature skin: Considered one of the most potent revitalizing oils for the derma, Carrot Seed essential oil is distilled from the seeds of Wild Carrot. Carrot seed is chosen principally as a tonic for skin that has become dull and lifeless through any sort of stress. Carrot seed has a smooth, warm and earthy aroma that will blend well with many other essential oils. Next is Rosemary Verbenone, which contains a high amount of regenerative ketones and is highly effective for regeneration. This specialty skin care essential oil is noted by professionals for its wonderful ability to improve the metabolism of skin cells - in essence, increasing both the removal of waste products and the intake of nutrients.
Essential oils that simulate the effects of estrogen have been found supportive of mature skin health. Perhaps as natural estrogen production lessens over time, these oils continue to give the skin a youthful hormonal environment. Two oils which can be considered are Clary Sage and Sweet Fennel. Each are noted by various authorities as exceptionally important for aging skin. Clary Sage is soft, sweet and herbaceous, with an aroma considered mildly euphoric to some. Sweet Fennel is a little stronger aromatically, and has been recommended for 'anti-wrinkle' formulas for every age. You may decide purely on the basis of your personal aromatic preference if you wish to include one of these estrogen mimicking oils.
A couple of lesser known yet highly effective skin care specialty oils are Cistus and Sea Buckthorn. Cistus is distilled from the Rock Rose flower, with astringent qualities used for firming the skin. Some Cistus varieties tend to have a rather medicinal aroma, but truly fine ones are sweet and alluring. Sea Buckthorn is pleasingly sweet, and should be considered for blends for all skin types. Found as a CO2 distillation (not to be confused with the cold-pressed Sea Buckthorn carrier oil) the essential oil is a deep red color, indicating the high concentration of carotenes, vitamin A precursors so important to skin health. The virtues of Sea Buckthorn have been hailed by users with a wide variety of skin conditions and types at every age - it is useful in very small amounts, and need only make up 1% of your recipe to enjoy its benefits.
And what review of therapeutic skin oils could ignore the vast healing properties of Lavender? Well-known for its relaxing effects, true lavender can be included in aromatherapy blends for skin of any age. With regenerative, anti-inflammatory, and balancing effects, lavender is especially supportive of aging skin. Lavender's support for stress reduction alone can result in improving the appearance of your skin. It may be added in whatever concentration one chooses in alignment with one's personal taste. For those wanting even stronger anti-inflammatory and regenerative effects, try Helichrysum essential oil. Helichrysum is known widely as a profoundly healing essential oil for damaged skin, and is often called for in blends for healing wounds or reducing the appearance of scars. Note that if you are combining aromatherapy with other treatments such as chemical peels or microdermabasion, this essential oil would be a valuable ingredient in your personal formula. Finally, Rose oil is absolutely spectacular for mature skin - and has a fantastic aroma. Just a little goes a long way toward's a balanced and hydrated skin texture.
The recipes for natural skin for mature skin are quite simple. A good starting place is the following ratio: ten drops of each essential oil to every one ounce of carrier oil. For example, if you have four total ounces of carrier oil, use forty drops of each essential oil. More essential oil is rarely better when blending a formula for the skin - many essential oils work best at low concentrations with some oils potentially irritating the skin at high doses. A good rule of thumb is to keep your overall concentration of essential oils below five percent of the total concentration. This ratio works out to about thirty drops per ounce of carrier. If you are designing your own recipe, you can start with equal amounts of essential oil in your blend. Some oils will have more powerful aromas than others; most of these very potent aromas will be oils that you will want to use in smaller quantities. You can also adjust according to your aromatic preferences as well, thus creating a formula that not only supports your skin's health and metabolism, but smells lovely too.
Many of the oils mentioned here are found in blends for women, but there is no rule that prevents men from using them as well. For an aroma that a man may appreciate, deeper, earthier essential oils can be used - Sandalwood, Frankincense and Myrrh are all essential oils noted for their benefits to mature skin. Also, for any gender, including essential oils for their fragrance and not just their therapeutic properties is certainly an option. With one's emotional health often clearly reflected in the condition of their skin, there's more than likely to be a benefit beyond simply smelling nice! Just be aware that there are a few oils that should not be applied to the face; these are some of the spicier oils - Cinnamon, Oregano, Clove and Thyme varieties; cold-pressed citrus oils like lime, lemon, orange and bergamot should also be avoided for facial care, as these oils can cause the skin to be extra-sensitive to UV light. If you have any uncertainty about a particular oil, there are many quality resources regarding essential oil safety available both on the internet and in print.
Creating your own personal therapeutic skin care blend is a wonderful aromatherapy project for beginning and advanced practitioners alike. Beautiful Naturally: Effective Essential Oils for Mature Skin
by: HelenaMasters
It's no surprise several of the world's finest formulas for beautifying mature skin contain natural essential oils. Therapeutic grade essential oils used in aromatherapy are each selected for their distinctive healing action; many oils are specifically indicated for skin healing and healthy skin maintenance. Of greatest interest here are the oils known for their tissue regenerative effects and support of the skin's metabolic functions. An effective personal blend using premium therapeutic grade oils is easily made by choosing a few oils corresponding to the needs of your skin type, and blending with easy-to-follow formulas.
Essential oils for topical application in nearly every instance will be blended with what are known as carrier oils or 'base' oils. These cold-pressed seed or nut oils make up the foundation of most natural skin care formulas. There are a many lovely carrier oils from which to choose - a few favorites for nourishing and healing mature skin include: Avocado is known to be both hydrating, and nutritive; it has a medium consistency and is generally included at about 20% of the total base oil mixture. Apricot Kernel is fantastic for dry skin and is used for healing damaged or irritated skin. Apricot oil can be used in combination or with other carriers or as 100% of the base oil. Borage oil is used as a small (perhaps 10%) portion of the carrier blend; it helps to calm inflammation and supplies important essential fatty acid nutrients. Borage and Evening Primrose oil may be interchanged though the Evening Primrose should be used in slightly larger concentrations of up to one-quarter of the base formula. Hazelnut oil is a very common carrier in skin care blends. It has a thinner consistency and is best used by those with oily skin conditions. With its astringent properties Hazelnut should not exacerbate oily-skin conditions. Lastly, and likely most importantly, we have Rosehip Seed. Rosehip seed oil combines a plethora of therapeutic properties including the ability to speed turnover of skin cells without drying or flaking (as can be a common side effect of synthetic preparations with the same purpose). An excellent base oil mix for mature skin might include 70% Apricot Kernel, 15% Rosehip and 15% Evening Primrose. For those with dry skin, add Avocado oil at 20% and reduce the Apricot Kernel to 50%. For oily skin, replace Apricot Kernel with Hazelnut.
Clary Sage essential oil is noted as being particularly suited to natural beauty care. It contains sclareol, which mimics the effects of estrogen; this is noted by one expert author as the primary reason it helps with skin aging. It may also be the reason Clary Sage is said to regulate the skin's secretions, bringing balance to both over-dry and over-oily skin. Elsewhere, it is noted as relaxing - even mildly euphoric - which may also contribute to its positive effects for wrinkles. Sweet Fennel is another 'estrogenic' essential oil, called for by Valerie Worwood in 'The Complete Book of Essential Oils' as an ingredient in wrinkle-preventative blends for all ages.
Sea Buckthorn Berry CO2 extract is gentle oil with a pleasingly sweet aroma - it contains significant amounts of essential fatty acids and antioxidants. It is noted as a particularly effective anti-wrinkle and skin softening agent. Users have commented on its benefits for a wide-variety of skin conditions. Cistus, another specialty essential oil for the care of mature care, is distilled from a plant that grows in hotter climes. The oil is used for its firming effects where sagging skin is a concern. Its natural astringent action also makes it an excellent choice for those with adult acne.
Of course no discussion of skin care and aromatherapy would be complete without Lavender. True lavender (Lavendula angustifolia) can be included in aromatherapy blends for skin at any age. It may be especially supportive of aging skin through its combination of anti-inflammatory, balancing, and regenerative actions. Lavender is also well-known for its relaxing effects, and its support for stress reduction may quickly result in improving your skin's appearance. For those whom enjoy its floral aroma, Lavender may be added in whatever concentration one chooses to impart its aromatic quality to the formula. For an even stronger anti-inflammatory and regenerative effect, use Helichrysum essential oil (also known as Everlasting or Immortelle). Helichrysum may be the most profoundly healing essential oil for damaged skin, often called for in blends for healing wounds or reducing the appearance of scars. If you are combining aromatherapy with other treatments such as microdermabrasion, Helichrysum would be an important ingredient in your blend.
While these are many of the oils favored for women's beauty care, similar recipes may be used by men as well. A more masculine formula can be created using essential oils from woods - Australian Sandalwood, for example, can be added for both its therapeutic and aromatic properties; Frankincense and Myrrh are also noted for their positive effects for aging skin and have warm, earthy aromas. Further, adding oils purely for their aromatic beauty is always an option. There are only a few oils that should not be applied to the face that are commonly used in aromatherapy: Cinnamon, Oregano, Clove and Red Thyme; cold-pressed citrus oils and Angelica Root oil are phototoxic, and should not be applied to skin that will be exposed to sunlight in the following 72 hours. If you're not sure about a particular essential oil, check with a reliable resource - otherwise, feel free to enhance your blends to suit your aromatic taste.
Blending a personal formula may seem overwhelming at first, but in fact it is quite a natural and pleasant experience. Once the formula is decided upon, one simply needs to mix each selected essential oil into the one or more base oils at the recommended concentrations and apply to clean skin on a regular basis. The creation of synergistic therapeutic blends for mature skin is enjoyable, easy-to-do, and a wise choice for the skin, the planet, and the pocket-book. By using therapeutic-grade oils and carriers, you'll be creating an effective, beautiful smelling formula that is designed precisely for your own skin condition. Moreover, you can adjust the recipe over time as your needs change, or make different formulas with various aromas to double as natural perfumes. As always with aromatherapy, start slowly, pay attention to your body, enjoy the process!

Five Cellulite Cure Myths You Shouldn't Fall For
by: MandyAdamsen
There are many cellulite cure products you can choose. However, before you jump on just any solution though, you should know that there are some popular myths circulating about cures for cellulite. You should find out about these myths so that you can avoid falling for them.
Myth #1: Only old women need cellulite treatment.
The first thing you should always remember is that old women or stout women are not the only ones with a cellulite condition. They are thus, not the only ones in need of a cellulite cure. Even young women, slim women, athletic women and some men have cellulite problems. Cellulite chooses no one and can strike at almost any time.
Young people are even more in need of a cure for cellulite. This frustrating condition can actually affect a young person's self esteem and can hamper social interaction. You can just imagine how terrible it would be not being able to wear the right attire at the beach with your friends.
Myth #2: Liposuction is the most effective cellulite solution.
As far as cellulite is concerned, money is not the only issue with getting a liposuction as a cellulite cure. Don't think that as long as you have the cash, you can effectively get rid of cellulite through liposuction. This may not always be the case. Candidates for cellulite liposuction are carefully screened. Not every person can undergo liposuction. Candidates should be healthy and close to their right weight. They should also have a more or less elastic skin. An inexperienced doctor who takes a risk on a bad candidate may make cellulite dimpling worse. A bad liposuction procedure can even result in complications like infections and even eventual death.
Myth #3: You can easily find quick fixes for cellulite.
You can't get rid of cellulite easily. Even a very effective cellulite cure would take some time to produce results. You would also have to regularly use a treatment if you want to get good results. With this in mind, you shouldn't believe advertisements that tell you that there is a fast and easy way to get rid of cellulite. These ads are most likely referring to temporary masking solutions. These are not cures at all but cosmetics that can cover your problem to make it less obvious for a day or two.
Myth #4: All you need is a healthy diet and exercise to get rid of cellulite.
Proper exercise and good diet can help but it does not cure cellulite. Even athletes who strictly follow diet and exercise regimens may still have cellulite areas. It's just that their cellulite isn't that obvious with all those toned muscles.
Myth #5: Any cellulite product is as good as any other.
There are many products out there that claim to be able to solve cellulite problems. Not all products however are genuine cellulite solutions. Be careful when you choose and buy a cellulite cure. You could get scammed. Pick one that has authentic natural cellulite-fighting ingredients. You might want to check the product's reputation and track record first.

Acne Quick Cure: Fact Or Fiction?
by: BarryCrewse
No doubt there has been countless articles and books written as to why the heck we have acne. They attempt to address questions such as where it comes from and how to make it go away.
It all leads to treatment plans. Which really do work and which are only snake oil?
For most people, treating acne has meant only one thing, medication. It's the only main approach that medical science has really taken. Treatment by medications and drugs is the norm but is it possible to treat acne in a really natural way?
You will find a great deal of research material that will state that because of the many varied causes of acne, the natural approach does not produce very good results. I find that contrary to my research that indicates a very high success rate among those who follow the plans using natural products.
Yes, there are many different causes that can be associated with an outbreak of acne and it is vitally important that before any treatment program that you check with your physician or dermatologist to determine what they consider to be the root cause but natural treatments do exist and many of them are quite effective.
Finding out which natural products are most effective is really just the beginning. Nearly every natural approach to fighting acne involves a plan of action and your ability to follow through.
It really is not different than taking powerful antibiotics or other medication prescribed by your doctor. You must have a plan of action and follow it precisely or successful treatment of your acne will not happen.
It is important to remember that acne can only be controlled. There is no cure. So if deciding upon a natural medication approach, you may find yourself surprised at what the more advanced natural approach will do for you in controlling your acne.
Blocked pores, swelling, oily skin, pain and inflammation are classic examples of an acne outbreak. Many of the natural products on the market today can effective and safely treat these symptoms.
When fighting acne it is also important to consider your diet. Foods themselves may not be the main culprit but many food we eat can have certain side effects that can actually worsen your acne outbreak. Acne itself is usually caused by more than one factor.
Stress and environmental issues also play an important role on our bodies and how acne reacts to treatment. Learning the different ways to deal with these issues while in conjunction with an all natural treatment plan can produce dramatic results.
There have been many books and products sold over the most recent years making claims of all sorts on curing your acne forever in 5 minutes. The truth is as I stated earlier that acne cannot be cured. That is just the facts and no product whether chemical or natural can treat it effectively in 5 minutes or even 24 to 48 hours.
I have received many reports from different individuals stating that they are seeing rather significant results with 72 hours. It is important to be clear though that they are not acne free at this point but the result they are experiencing are dramatic. When followed as directed, the natural programs these folks are using are producing result with in a week or two that rival even the most power chemical treatments they had been prescribed before.
If your treatment plan is not working and you find yourself struggling with treating your acne then I would strongly suggest doing a little investigation into what kind of natural acne treatment plans are out there. Although many people pass off the idea that natural treatment is not effective, a great number of those who have tried it are finding great success.
It is important to remember that no matter what treatment plan you have chosen to treat your acne, always make it a point to contact your physician when considering an alternative. Never ever discontinue any type of prescribed medication with the advise of your doctor. If a natural approach is something you would like to consider then the advice of your doctor can help you easily make the switch.
